Find Out Who You Are – Then Live It!

Posted by Ken LaDeroute on February 12, 2009

treasure-chestI wrote a song on my CD “Soul Affirmation” called “It Comes From Me.” The song speaks about how I have uncovered the essential self of me. How I acknowledge it, realize it and surrender to it.  All our hesitations about creating the life we desire come from not realizing who we really are.

Buried Treasure
What’s the big secret? OK, I’ll say it. I am God. Or, I am a part of God. God is a part of me. There is nowhere that God is not. That’s not so hard to accept, or is it?

I share two perspectives. One, is that I see myself as separate. The other, I see myself as part of the whole. Like bubbles in a stream you are separate but at the same time you are the stream.

Unearth The Creative Spark Within
Start your day the best way – spend time alone. Getting in touch with yourself is easy and enjoyable. Breathe into yourself and get centered. Observe the way you feel and think. Acknowledging that you are a spiritual being and that setting time aside for your spiritual life is the most important thing you can do to rekindle the creative impulse within. Take time to be thankful, and see yourself being mindful.

Soul Digging
I have come to understand that because we are so focused on survival, we do not give ourselves enough time to patiently uncover our heart’s desire. We complacently go about our routines without bothering to dig deeper into our souls. Before long, motivation shrivels up and our true purpose becomes distilled in the ocean of our mundane lives. We have to learn how to wake up and renew our commitment to life. How important is your life to you?

Carve New Pathways
Think back to when you were a child. What excited you back then? Take a month and for 30 minutes, faithfully do that thing everyday. Email 10 of your friends, tell them you intend on creating a new habit and that you will email them everyday once you complete your intention. After a month, if it’s something you want to continue doing, keep doing it. If not, drop it and try something else.

Stake Your Claim
What is it worth to you to experience a ridiculously happy life? How much money would you be willing to spend? How much time would you set aside for that discovery process? Are you worth it? Do you have the courage to be who you are?

Other than sitting in the pure joy and silence of meditation, I think coaching others on how to access their essential creative selves toward a happy fullfiling life is one of the best things I can do toward quickening the evolution of our cumulative consciousness.

Why I Coach

Posted by Ken LaDeroute on February 2, 2009

my-blue-heartAfter many years of exploring my psyche, it becomes clear to me that we all share similar desires, needs and motivations. We all want to be happy. All people have an inherent resource within them to find all the solutions they need for their growth and fulfillment.

As I ruminate about my new career choice as a spiritual coach, I’m excited to say, that it’s right up my alley. I think coaching is about self discovery, not only for the client but also for the coach. I’ve been on a pathway toward self discovery for so long, I am perfectly suited to help others with their journey.

Listening, Attention and Judgment
I am an excellent listener. The highest form of love is giving someone your complete and full attention. In the years that I was a professional musician, I developed very sensitive ears. I have also mixed and edited many audio engineering projects. Audio engineers have very refined hearing sensibilities and are able to discern minute differences in frequency, volume and pitch. Meditation is the art of inner listening. Being a long-time meditator, I have developed concentration to the degree that I am able to focus for long periods without wavering.

But all those years of critical listening means nothing without giving your all to the listener. Without a calm patient, caring disposition and a fully present non-judgmental approach, listening without compassion is like eating without tasting.

Above all, a coach listens to a client as a magnificent, extraordinary person; as their greater self, and relates to them that way. You are your attention. What you focus on becomes more dominant in your life.

Our judgments and opinions are usually about ourselves, not about the person being coached. After years of meditation and contemplation and ruthless observation of my thoughts, motives and desires, I have dropped most opinions, positions and judgments. This will allow me to be a better coach.

Intuition
We are all intuitives. We just need to learn to develop our intuition. I especially like women because of their in-tuned feeling sense. Through observation of the mind we can diminish non-useful mental activity by releasing all judgment, opinion and belief. In that process we are more able to access more refined areas beyond mere instinct, mind and emotion. Meditation practice is useful in releasing non-essential conditioning and opening up to new cognitions of intuition, imagination, inspiration and creativity.

Relationship
Coaching is about relationship. A healthy me is a healthy we. Every client is a mirror of you. The clearer I am about myself, the clearer you are about yourself. Every client is a reflection of your ability to coach.

Vision
The universe is expanding and as inhabitants of this planet, so are we. Our evolution is why were here. I want to help others, grow and become, to discover their potentialities, to guide them toward revealing their essential selves – self-realization, to help them find better outcomes, to help them find happy relationships, vision, passion and purpose.

This is my life’s work, and this is my truth.
